The Stephen Lawrence Project 2021

Remembering Stephen Lawrence

What is Stephen Lawrence Day? April 22nd, 2021 marks the 28th anniversary of Stephen Lawrence’s untimely death and the legacy that would come from his passing. From this period up until April 22nd, KickOff@3 will be putting measures in place to initiate The Stephen Lawrence Project; KickOff@3 aims to inspire young people across the UK to produce a creative piece of work (such as a poem, song, spoken word or drawn/digital piece of art) inspired by Stephen Lawrence’s legacy. We hope this project ensures young people are either reminded of Stephen Lawrence and what his death meant to society, or, become newly educated of his legacy and are motivated to live in a kinder and more accepting society by it.

How will KickOff@3 achieve this? On April 22nd we ask young people to upload their artwork onto social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, tagging KickOff@3’s handle in the process. We hope to flood these social media platforms with inspired, motivational and moving pieces of creative artwork on Stephen Lawrence Day.

Support from our talented young people

KickOff@3's Stephen Lawrence Day will be led by St Albans based band Kick Pistol.

We love the involvement, enthusiasm and support of young people for this Stephen Lawrence Project!

Michael Hailey, a local comedian from St Albans, will also be performing live for Stephen Lawrence Day during the evening of April 22nd.

Support from our community

Based in St Albans, Ember have been a supporter of Kick-Off@3 for nearly two-years and have been responsible for our main rebrand alongside the development for our other spin-off events, helping us create a range of promotional material. In addition to this, they have been pivotal in working in conjunction with our partners helping to take the Kick-Off@3 brand to a national level.

Ember’s founder Lee Wood is excited about this new opportunity and hopes the new partnership will spur on like minded businesses to get involved:

“The work which Michael and Ashley have done in a very short space of time is nothing less than inspirational. Sport has the ability to unite, bring positivity and passion. I have been involved in the industry for over 20 years and I’ve seen the benefit that it can bring to communities like ours so I’m absolutely delighted to be supporting Michael and Ashley by becoming a gold sponsor. I’d encourage other businesses to work with the team and help make a difference. Kick-Off@3 have massive potential along with the drive and vision to succeed. Now is a phenomenal time to get involved”.

Michael Wallace and Ashley Levien, co-founders of Kick-Off@3, believe this collaboration will help reach a wider audience, stating:

“We’ve been working with Ember Designs for a few years and their understanding about the importance of the project has been key to this partnership."

"Lee has won awards for both his own community work and his customer engagement so Ashley and I are delighted to have him on board as our first ‘Gold Sponsor’", says Michael.
